The tele vision reception in Tryon is so good that nearly every family wants a set. . . Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Brantley have returned from the Democratic convention where home folk saw and heard him cast his vote for Senator Russell. Commen tators in general seem to think the Democrats made the best se lections under the circumstances. Adlai Stevenson of Illinois for president and Senator Sparkman1 jj^Alabama for vice-president. The i j^ing campaigns will give the Voters a chance to decide between the parties in November. . . Mr. and Mrs. Matt O’Shields and son, Pat, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ander son have returned to Tryon from a visit in the midwest including friends at Castle Park, Grand Rap ids. and business trip to St. Louis. . . . Mr. O’Shields will have charge of the Tryon Kiwanis Club program Tuesday and will have as guest sneaker, Scout Executive R. M. Schiele.who will show pictures of wildflowers and describe them. The same program at Rotary Friday received praise from all who heard it. Mrs. Creighton McClure Mrs. Mary Jennie Raises Mc Clure, 69, widow of Creighton Mc Clure, died at her home Saturday at 7:40 a. m. after an illness of several months. She was a daughter of the late Henry and Nancy Henson Raines and a member of the Fairview Baptist Church of Landrum. Surviving are a son, R. F. 0i Landrum; four daughters, Mrs. Jack Layne of Tryon; Mrs. Fred Merrill of Grosse Pointe, Mich.; Mrs. Paul Howard, Greenville and Mrs. Bobby Bridgeman of Lan drum: and four grandchildren; one brother, Roland Raines of Landrum, Rt. 1; four half-brothers Charlie Raines, Landrum; George Raines, Ellenboro; Delford Raines, Shelby; Luther Raines, New Jer sey: two sisters, Mrs. Vannie Mc Makin, Spartanburg; and Mrs. Lula Brock, Landrum; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary Sue Tuck er and Mrs. Julia Morgan, both of Landrum. r uneral services were conducted Sunday at 4:30 at Fairview Bapt ist Church by Revs. Broadus Belue, Harold Schumacher, T. E. Reid and H. O. Hearn. Pallbearers were J. C. Raines, Virgil, John and Matthew Henson, Harold McClure and Winfred Revan. Petty Funeral Home was in charge of services.
